Star Catcher and Satlyt partner to unlock scalable edge computing

Star Catcher Industries, Inc. (Star Catcher) and Satlyt Inc. (Satlyt) have announced a strategic partnership to deliver integrated edge computing and orbital energy solutions, enabling satellite operators to scale next-generation missions with greater speed, resilience, and flexibility.
Satlyt specializes in edge computing software that allows satellites to process data in orbit – reducing reliance on ground stations, enhancing storage and processing capabilities, and enabling faster, more secure operations. As in-space computing advances, power demands have become a critical bottleneck.
Recognizing this challenge, Star Catcher and Satlyt are combining forces to deliver a bundled solution. By pairing Satlyt’s edge computing solutions with dedicated, on-demand energy from Star Catcher’s orbital power network — the Star Catcher Network — customers can significantly increase computing capabilities and data transfer availability compared to what would be possible with onboard power budgets.
Unlike traditional satellite architectures, which often require costly hardware upgrades to support more demanding operations, the combined offering taps into Star Catcher’s space-to-space energy beaming service — transmitting concentrated solar energy directly to satellites’ existing solar arrays with no major spacecraft modifications required. This flexible augmentation approach allows operators to expand computational and mission performance as needed and allows existing spacecraft to increase their capabilities.
“Satlyt is solving one of the hardest problems in space: how to bring powerful data processing closer to where it’s needed without overwhelming spacecraft systems,” said Andrew Rush, Co-Founder and CEO of Star Catcher. “By leveraging our platform, this combined offering ensures that customers not only get the edge computing capabilities they need, but the energy supply to fully use them.”
This offering will also provide enhanced mission resilience, enabling Satlyt’s network and customers to maintain full operations even during eclipse periods, unexpected solar array failures, or other unforeseen power deficits.
“Satellites aren’t just sensors anymore, they’re becoming real-time processors, data centers, and autonomous nodes,” said Rama Afullo, Founder and CEO of Satlyt. “But computing is energy-intensive. By teaming up with Star Catcher, we’re giving our customers a way to scale faster, operate more reliably, and unlock the full potential of their spacecraft without compromise.”
With this partnership, Star Catcher and Satlyt are laying the groundwork for a future where spacecraft can seamlessly scale both computational and operational performance — powering a smarter, more efficient, and more resilient space economy.
About Star Catcher
Star Catcher is building the first power grid in space — beaming concentrated solar energy on demand to satellites in orbit.
